Institute of Health Research And Development was created by a Board Resolution on October 28, 2011. It is an affiliate of University of Uyo Teaching Hospital and vested with the responsibility of advancement of research, training and consultancy services. The motto of the institute is “Research for Health and Development”. The departments includes: Research, Training and Consultancy. Its e-mail address is: researchinstitute@uuthuyo.net

Setting standards in health care through research evidence based practice and community directed intervention.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To improve the quality of Healthcare delivery in      Nigeria
  • To promote the professional training of health care      professionals
  • To organize and hold forums, lectures, seminars      conferences and meetings for the discussion of professional affairs,      interest, papers and topical issues on health service matters  and      generally to collect, collate and publish information of interest to      members of the medical profession and the public at large.
  • To promote printing and publication of research and      educational materials.
  • To defend the interest and general well-being of      members of the Institute.
  • To purchase, lease, they include not, hold and dispose      of any building, hall or properties to be used by the institute in      carrying out its objectives.
  • To borrow, raise or secure the payment of the purposes      of the Institute on such terms and on such security as may be thought fit.
  • To promote Medical research and training with      particular emphasis on maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS research,      Malaria research and control together with other Neglected Topical      Diseases (NTD)s.
  • To register, maintain and operate a      Consultancy/Training arm as a Continuing Medical Education.
  • To float peer review journal.
  • To do all such other lawful things as are incidental or      conducive to the attainment of the objectives of the Institute.
