UUTH Marks World Mental Health Day, Prioritizes Workplace Wellness.

The Department of Mental Health, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), joined the global community in celebrating World Mental Health Day. The event, themed “Prioritizing Mental Health in the Workplace,” emphasized the crucial need for workplace wellness amidst Nigeria’s economic challenges.

Speakers, including the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, ably represented by the chairman medical advisory committee, Dr Clement Udoinyang, Dr. Aniekan Peter, Chairman, NMA Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Augustine Umoh, and District Governor of lions district 404, Lion Sir Maurice Ibok ably represented by Elder Ezekiel Umoh stressed the importance of promoting mental health awareness, reducing stress, and fostering friendly work environments.

The event featured a drama presentation, “Mindfulness,” and a lecture on mental health in the workplace, highlighting the need for collective action to address this public health concern.
The event also featured presentation of gift items by the Lion’s club International to mental health patients.

Earlier on there was a sensitization walk around the hospital premises by the mental health department and others, creating awareness about the day.

Attendees praised the Department of Mental Health and the Lions Club for their tireless efforts in organizing the successful event.
