The Finance Department Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society held its inaugural annual general meeting, marking a significant milestone since its establishment in 2022. The event was officially inaugurated by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Emem Bassey, who highlighted common pitfalls that can lead to the failure of cooperatives, including poor management, lack of clear objectives, and insufficient member engagement.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Kamal Bello, Director of Finance and Account, assured investors that the cooperative is committed to transparency and promised not to disappoint them.
The President of the Cooperative, Mr. Samuel Umana expressed gratitude to investors and encouraged others to join the cooperative, emphasizing the importance of member engagement and investment.
The Director of Administration, Dr J.J Akpan, emphasized the purpose of cooperative societies, which is to provide financial support to members during difficult times, and encouraged staff to take advantage of the opportunity.
The meeting also featured the presentation of financial reports, the setup of the Council of Inspection/Investment & Strategic Committee, and the official presentation and inauguration of the Management Committee.
The event was attended by the Director of Cooperative, Akwa Ibom, represented by Mr. Samuel Etuk, and concluded with group photographs.
This milestone marks a significant step forward for the Finance Department Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society, demonstrating its commitment to transparency, accountability, and member engagement.
