EHANIRE EXPRESSES SATISFACTION WITH UUTH MANAGEMENT.

Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire has expressed satisfaction with the management of University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, comparing the trajectory development in the hospital to that of one of the front line hospital in india.
Dr. Ehanire who made the commendation during the inauguration of projects in the hospital added that the projects have the capacity to respond to all health threats and have the potential to improve the quality of diagnostic and therapeutic services offered by UUTH.
On concerns about brain drain in the nation’s health sector, the minister assured that the Federal Ministry of Health has now introduced a one-on-one policy that would allow a Chief Medical Director (CMD) to make an immediate replacement of a doctor or nurse who is permanently out of service. The policy according to him is to enable the Federal Government address gap manpower in health sector in the Federal Civil Service and warned CMDS not to abuse the policy.
Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. EmemAbasi Basseey said the infrastructure renaissance in the hospital which came through his initial assessment, on assumption of office four years ago, helped in identifying the challenges and potential solutions and enabled him to set up a new mission and vision for the hospital.

Projects inaugurated were: the molecular laboratory complex, New oxygen plant, Patients clinic complex comprising the out-patient’s clinic Medical and Surgical out patient’s clinic, Gynecology, Pharmacy and Laboratory units.
Others were: Radiology complex, Renovated and re-equipped intensive care unit funded by the Federal Government under the covid-19 funds, two new Ambulances to support the National Emergency Medical Ambulance Scheme, Hospital Gate-house and Security post, Internal roads, Expansion of water complex with a storage capacity of over two hundred litres.
Also, the Laboratory complex which is almost completely constructed, the Stroke Centre donated by Ima and Iboro, a foundation in collaboration with the hospital, the Infection Isolation and Treatment Centre as well as the newly constructed ante-natal building extension.
